Hi, I'm Shawna.
For over 20 years, I worked as a 1099 hairdresser, so I understand firsthand what it's like to be self-employed and responsible for finding your own health insurance.
During my two decades behind the chair, I watched talented stylists, estheticians, nail techs, makeup artists, barbers, and other independent professionals either go without health coverage entirely or overpay for plans that barely covered anything. Nobody ever taught us how health insurance worked—we were independent contractors trying to figure it out on our own.
That experience inspired me to change careers.
Today, I'm a licensed health advisor who helps not only self-employed professionals, but also individuals and families who are looking for quality health coverage. Many of my clients come to me because they're paying high Marketplace premiums, don't qualify for subsidies, or simply want to see if there's a better option available.
My goal is to make health insurance easy to understand and help people feel confident in the coverage they choose.
